Description Suggest change

This is a small zone not included in the NYC bouldering guidebook. It is located at the base of the Blockhouse, an old War of 1812 fortification, on its north side, lookers left and uphill of a ~40-50 foot tall, 2nd/3rd class slab. Some of the problems are located immediately left of this slab and are made up of the same rock formation. These are mostly fun, easy, moderately tall problems. Further uphill from this is another small outcrop nearer to the Blockhouse itself, which consists of a variety of climbs including a few more in the v3+ range as well as a few cracks. This zone is similar in quality to the Shit Rock area and name not withstanding is a pretty decent, less traveled zone for those who want to branch out from Worthless Boulder.

The large 2nd/3rd class slab described above also makes for fantastic crashpad sledding (or skiing, even, for the bold) when a big snowstorm rolls through. You will crater at the base! Which is half the fun of course, but make sure you've got enough snow to crash into.

Getting There Suggest change

Take the B/C or the #1 train (slightly closer) to their respective 110th street stations. The Blockhouse is uphill and to the west of Worthless Boulder, maybe a five minute walk. Once the Blockhouse (very hard to miss) is located, the problems are easily found by wandering around on its north side.
