Description
Prominent limestone cliff band located at the mouth of the canyon accessed from the Blacksmith River Trail and/or the Hyrum CCC Camp, which it overlooks. An unusually dense collection of moderate to easy routes for a crag.
Still a relatively new and developing area with naturally chossy rock, climbers are advised to be cautious of loose rock. It is highly recommended to take extra precautions while belaying and climbing, such as staying out of rock fall zones below climbers and wearing a helmet.
Getting There
A few minutes from the Hyrum Mcdonalds, park in the large, popular parking area at the mouth of the canyon that provides access to the river trail (south side) and the bonneville trail (north side). Parking is also available next to the bridge on the south side of the road. Cross the large, steel bridge that goes over the river and turn left to go upriver. Follow river trail for about 3-5 minutes then head uphill through the trees to the west (right side), and before the river trail takes a noticeable bend to the left. Trail to the crag starts north of the area and cuts diagonally cross hill. If you miss it, there are deer trails that aren't too bad and head for the obvious cliff band.
