Description Suggest change

A quick access alpine sport climbing destination for a price. The dolomite varies from decent to poor but many of the routes have fun steep sections. All routes have mussies or fixed lowering biners making the climbing as convenient as can be. If you ignore the tram and, at times, throngs of hikers at the base of the bowl, the setting is sublime.

I found my way here via climbingwyoming.com and their free PDF guide: https://www.climbingwyoming.com/2017/08/happy-hour-wall/ You should grab that excellent guide and any future guidebook it gets published in.

Getting There Suggest change

You could hike from the base area but there is better climbing to be had for similar effort in the Tetons. You'll want to take the Bridger Gondola. After stepping out, walk around to the far side of the lodge and pick up the Cirque Trail. Follow this to the vicinity of the Tensleep Bowl where you can break off trail across limestone scree (and likely small snowfields) to the base of the crags which are roughly 60' tall. Total approach time is roughly 30 minutes.

A new, alternate approach can be had off of the Tram. The resort built a new hiking trail down the North Ridge (named the same thing) from the top of the tram. Follow this scenic and exposed feeling hiking trail until you reach the saddle. A climbers trail right to the base of the wall breaks off the trail after the saddle. Check resort website for up-to-date trail status. Continued construction near the tram has the trail closed at times.
