Description

Beautiful canyon with a very long approach, especially if you are bringing in climbing gear. The canyon is VERY popular among backpackers, so don't expect to have the place to yourself! Climbing exists at both upper and lower Canyon Creek Lake. Please do not get hurt out here, rescue is a very long, long, way out! Most routes, even the most popular (Stonehouse Dihedral) tend to have dirt in the cracks, so a bit of traffic really wouldn't hurt.

This canyon popular among hikers, but you'll rarely see climbers. Despite the infrequent visits from climbers, there are probably at least 50 technical routes completed in the canyon. This history here goes back a long way. At some point it became cool to keep the area secret and hide information from all but your best buds. Inevitably, those who kept their ascents quiet got upset when others would later claim an FA of said route. Most of the reasons were either selfish or ego driven. If you would like to keep the mystery alive and not see any beta, easy, DON'T LOOK AT ANY OF THE ROUTES ONLINE!!! If you feel like the info being here negatively affects your trip because you are tempted to look, that's on you! The Trinity Alps will NEVER be crowded with rock climbers, you will never have to wait in line, and the rock will never get polished over. This page will not attract more backpackers to the area who are going to steal your campsite. For the rest of us who enjoy pursuing and seeing what's out there, enjoy and add to this page.
