Description
Crestone is a small town in the San Luis Valley. While this area has not been known for anything except alpine ascents, there are several bolted routes near the North Crestone Campground. I will inquire about the equippers and first ascensionist when I get a chance. A non-climbing friend showed me the crag, but he didn't know anything about its history. I only climbed two routes here, but I suspect there are several more. I will update this area and its routes as I learn more about it. I probably won't head back until spring 2021.
Eds. This is a very small crag with limited climbing. It is not a destination crag. The North Crestone Creek that the crag is situated on is very delicate, and since there’s a campground there, it’s getting trampled by visitors.
Getting There
From CO Highway 17, turn east on to Country Road T towards Crestone. Travel 12 miles into town, and follow the main road. This will take you to North Crestone Campground. At campground 9 or 10, head south towards the creek. Across the creek you will find a crag with several bolted lines.
