Description
This nice crag just west (right) of Choo Choo Rock has a good selection of routes from 5.7 to 5.11. Most are bolt protected and all have lower off anchors. The crag faces west and northwest. Routes on the right of the crag are shady in the morning and will get sun by mid-day. Routes in the corridor (at the left end of the crag) are shady until mid-afternoon. The corridor between Choo Choo Rock and the Train Station has good quality rock and some good routes. There are also new routes on Choo Choo Rock that are adjacent to the Train Station and easily climbed on the same outing.
Getting There
Approach from the Molino Vista parking area, as for Wall of the Flying Scorpions and Choo Choo Rock. After about 20 minutes of hiking towards Wall of the Flying Scorpions, the trail passes a drainage slab and levels off, traversing west toward Wall of the Flying Scorpions. From here, head up an obvious weakness toward Choo Choo Rock (there are some cairns and a faint path). Once at the base of Choo Choo Rock, head to its right (west) end, near the base of the route Chattanooga Choo Choo. Follow an obvious cairn and short path for another minute or so to the base of the Train Station. Expect about 25 or 30 minutes to get to the base.
NOTE: During periods of high water this crag may be difficult to access.
