Description Suggest change

Slightly south of the main Vermillion river canyon in Hastings is a dry canyon that used to drain water from nearby fields (or at least thats the hearsay I got about it while living in town). There are some exposed rock walls of the sides of the dry canyon that are decent for bouldering.

Getting There Suggest change

To get to The Pit from the North side of the Vermillion river (as if you we coming from downtown Hastings, you can cross the main Vermillion river canyon on the foot bridge heading south. Once you're over the main canyon the path will split into 3 different paths, Left, Right and Straight. If you continue straight for about 100ft and look to your left you will start to see this smaller dry canyon (The Pit). If you run into a path that goes to the left you have passed The Pit, however you can take this path and run alongside it to get to the other end. Alternatively you can drive to the Hastings Transportation Dept (off of LeDuc drive) and walk west keeping the footpath nearby to your left and you will eventually end up inside of The Pit. Do not park at the transportation dept, there is plenty of parking at the city parks nearby.
