Description Suggest change

The Melakwa Flows are a dense group of freeze-thaw ice flows on the SE shoulder of Kaleetan. They vary in steepness and length, but 1-2 pitch opportunities from low angle to steep curtains abound. There is SIGNIFICANT avalanche hazard above and this group gets morning sunlight, so one should be very careful and only do these climbs under safe conditions. It appears one could walk off around the climber's left, but there are many trees at the topouts for rappelling.

Getting There Suggest change

There are two standard approaches to Melakwa Lake. One can take the Melakwa Lake Trail up past Denny Creek. Or you can start at Alpental and approach over Bryant Col via Great Scott Basin. Once at Melakwa Lake, approach up valley and the flows will be on the left.a
