Description
Wild bolted sport climbs starting up steep face and entering into an incredible overhanging roof. Wearing a helmet here is highly advised as there seems to be some loose rock above much of the lip of the Octagon's roof.
Be a homie and buy the Pine Creek Climbing Guidebook by Tai DeVore and help out those who spent endless hours putting work into making this canyon such an incredible climbing area!
Getting There
From the parking area to Pratt's Crack Canyon, follow the climber's trail up the canyon for about as far as it goes, (may take between 30-40 minutes in all) passing pretty much all of the other crags in this canyon. Once you arrive at the Oser Wall (on the south side of the canyon), you will be able to see a crag on the north side of the canyon (opposite from the Oser wall) with a highly visible, steep, overhanging roof. The Octagon crag is located just a little further west up the canyon and across the creek from the Oser Wall. From the Oser Wall continue walking just a bit further up the canyon and cross the creek to reach the base of the obvious "octagonal" shaped alcove. Choose your own adventure to find the bases of the climbs here.
Be prepared to bushwhack through a patch of stinging nettles and trees at the base of this crag while exploring the routes here.
