Description
Bridgeview has some of the best rock around and is situated in a highly aesthetic location with the Snake River Canyon and Perrine Bridge as eye-catching backdrops. Lying in a huge plunge pool bowl carved and shaped by the Bonneville Flood, these climbs ascend a beautiful band of clean, pocketed basalt. Some routes continue upward into a second, less featured layer of basalt. This area was first developed by Reid Dowdle, Victor Thomas, and Kim Anderson in the late 90s to early 00s. Recent additions to the east wall were added by Shawn Willsey.
The crag consists of two walls: east-facing wall (morning sun and afternoon shade) and west-facing wall (morning shade and afternoon sun). Most of the climbs are sport, but a few mixed and trad lines exist as well. The crag lies at the southwestern end of the large bowl (plunge pool) cut into canyon wall.
Getting There
Another approach option involving routefinding, exposure, and more serious downclimbing exists by descending near bridge. This route is not recommended for most and, while more direct, doesn't really save much time.
