Description
This is an undeveloped remote/back country alpine bouldering area near the inlet of Delta Lake at the base of the terminal moraine of the Teton Glacier. There are literally endless possibilities for boulder here. Most of the rock is very high quality granite ranging from fine-grained to pegmatitic textures. If you are wanting a wilderness adventure to boulder in the prettiest place you've ever been without seeing another soul and getting to put your name on dozens of problems, this is the place for you. The best way to boulder here is obtaining a pristine back-county camping permit for Delta Lake. This way you get a couple of day in this gorgeous place. If it is hot, enjoy a dip in the glacially cooled lake if you want some shrinkage.
Getting There
From the Lupine Meadows trailhead hike upward to the first junction, continue straight heading toward Surprise and Amphitheater Lakes, continue 1.5 miles until you reach another junction for Garnet Canyon and Surprise and Amp Lake, pay attention now and continue straight/right towards Amphitheater Lake. Shortly after the junction you will reach a switchback, leave the trail to the right at the apex of this switchback down a very steep social trail. Follow this faint/intermittent trail until you reach Delta Lake (You cant do this section of the hike wrong, your route finding skills can either make this section a breeze or very annoying. Once to the lake, head to the north bank and walk to the inlet and start picking away at the endless options. Remember this is an underdeveloped site so remember to bring whatever tools you need.
