Description
The red trail at Webb Mountain Park in Monroe/Shelton Connecticut is a beautiful area filled with a number of established and several unexplored boulders. Less than half a mile along the trail is a massive boulder called "big boulder". If followed, the red trail leads to a breathtaking overlook of the Housatonic River Valley.
Getting There
Take Route 25 North toward danbury until reaching the connector and turn right onto Route 111 leading toward Monroe. Follow Route 111 until you pass Masuk High School on your right, taking the next right turn onto East Village Road. Follow East Village little more than a mile until turning left onto Webb Circle. Continue on Webb Circle and instead of continuing on Webb Circle left around a bend, go straight ahead onto Old fish house road. At the fork between the Webb circle bend and old fish house road, you should look to your left and be able to see an old train car in the middle of someones yard. Along Old Fish road you should pass two different gravel parking areas with maps of Webb mountain's trails. Park in the second of the two parking areas. On foot, follow old fish house road for about half a mile until you can see a trail crossing from right to left across the road up a relatively steep incline with log steps. You have reached the Red Trail. On trees along each of the trails at Webb mountain, there are colored markers indicating which trail you are on. In about a 5 minute walk up the incline following the trail, you should reach a clearing, and it will be hard to miss the "Big Boulder". There is one established V3 bouldering route on the Big boulder. By following the trail further you will eventually come to the overlook.
