Description
WARNING: This is a newly developed area with lots of loose rock. CLIMBER AND BELAYER SHOULD WEAR A HELMET WHEN CLIMBING HERE.
Some of the longest climbs at Grapefruit on medium quality, south-facing rock. Developed in 2017-18 by Tom Ellis, Mike Raukhaus, Andy Sterns and Tait Chandler. It's a new area, so all the routes have a fair amount of loose rock on them (despite hours of cleaning). Pitch in by sending often! All routes are bolted and have chains and carabiners at the top (can be accessed for TR). All routes have flat belay stations.
Getting There
Sunnyside is located at Lower Grapefruit (west). Walk on the two-track like you are heading to First Crag. Look out for flagging tape 5 minutes in, look left and follow the pink flagging tape at a diagonal through the woods from the road. Start to descend a slope, following the flagging tape. Once you hit an open scree slope, follow the fresh cut trail to the top of Sunnyside (first outcropping of rocks you hit). Go straight to grassy ledge at the top of the rock face to set up TR or turn left and down following flagging tape to access the bottom.
