Description

Switchback is a west-facing crag right off the trail. It has five well protected slabby routes and is a nice alternative to the southern faces of Big Rock when that area is crowded. This area is climber's left of the Rookie Wall but it's actually the same formation. The slabby routes can have pine needles so be aware of that or bring a wire brush for community service points. Please be considerate of the hikers and try to keep your gear away from the trail at the base.

Getting There

Approach for the southern routes on big rock such as Southern Comfort. Continue on the same trail for 2-3 mins or less as it leads toward Rookie Wall. The base of these routes is right at the switchback with the small retaining wall on climbers right.
