Access Issue: Reservation & Fee Details

Enter before 7am, or explain you're a climber and you won't park at any nice parking lots. Otherwise, a reservation is required to drive up Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway. You pick a 2-hour window for entry, and pay $22 (2026). You can enter anytime during that period, and stay as long as you want. recreation.gov/timed-entry/…
It's free to access any area by hiking instead of driving. That includes hiking from Echo Lake Park to Roadside, Gateway, Area A, Possibility, and everything around there. It also includes Hell's Hole and other areas.
