Description
Volcanic rock, looks like the rest of the Washoe Boulders. The shady north east side has a couple routes in and around the hole through the center of these two boulders. More routes can be found on the west, northwest, and northern side of these boulders. Can’t find info on this chunk of rock anywhere else online, but there are some pretty well chalked routes on them already, so it’ll probably pop up in a guide book with a different name. More to come on that.
Getting There
The first set of boulders at the plateau of the Washoe Boulders area. Take Goni Rd. way up into the mountains all the way to the black and red colored "sand"(I know it's not sand, but that's the best way to describe the texture.), right before the road switches back to go up hill next to the colored "sand". You will see a dirt road to the left. Park and walk up it. Key Hole Boulders are easy to spot, they’re just past the party bonfire pit at the plateau in the dirt road. The boulders themselves are covered in white graffiti. Look for the tags "Batch", "2002", and something I can't identify written in gold paint, and more unrecognizable writing in white with yellow trim. The Left and Right Twin Boulders can be seen downhill to the southwest of these boulders.
