Description

Wimovi Pluton (AKA Shaver Dome) is the most accessible climbing spot in the Shaver Lake area. Located 100 yards off Hwy 168, it was long regarded as an aesthetic and slightly decomposing granite mass. That is until recently when the Stevenson Creek gorge was explored. Although compact in size, the south face offers a great afternoon of short, fun and challenging routes. A word of caution however, Wimovi is not the best family climbing venue as the routes generally lie above the lip of a waterfall, the flow of which is variable and governed by the Shaver Lake Dam. This could be a very bad scenario for unattended pets and kids so use caution.

Getting There

From Shaver Lake Village, follow Hwy 168 north. Passing your first view of the lake, 168 will descend toward Stevenson Creek. Prior to the bridge, a dirt pullout will be found on the west side... Wimovi is the obvious "pluton" beyond.

Follow a short use trail down Stevenson Creek. For the main wall, cross at the gauging station then head downstream. This approach requires traversing some sketchy slabs. An alternative is to stay on the left side of the creek and traverse slightly upslope to access slabs allowing you to descend and cross the creek below the face.
