Description
La Madre Mountain is the highest point along the rim of the Keystone Thrust. The beautiful milky white 1000' south face sports some of the cleanest, least chossy rock in the range.
Getting There
Find your way past the gated "communities" and park at the gate of Brownstone Basin then continue north up the wash on foot. Or park at Sandstone Quarry (if you feel you can be back by the time the loop closes) or get dropped off. Hike up the wash and over the saddle north of Turtle Head to the upper end of Brownstone Basin.
