Description Suggest change

The Pan Dome Falls Area is the ice climbing and mixed area found inside the Mt. Baker Ski Area. The centerpiece of the area is Pan Dome Falls, a popular ice climb.

In addition to Pan Dome there are a few mixed lines and shorter ice climbs in the area.

Access to this area can be tricky. The ski area allows climbers, but they have a few rules:

1) Climbs may not be approached from the top. The areas above the ice climbs are closed and approaching from the top to toprope can lead to a ticket. It also threatens our collective access to the Pan Dome Area. Please do not approach from the top.

2) Approach via the Backcountry Access Trail and then cut across above Chair 2. Pay attention to skiers and stay out of everyone's way.

3) If the chairlifts near Pan Dome are closed, the ice climbing area is closed. The area is in a zone that is regularly controlled for avalanches. And they often close things down to do control work.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive to the end of Highway 542 and park in the Upper Mt. Baker Ski Area Parking Lot.
