Description
The Melon Wall is a small area located a few minutes up the Middle Fork Trail. This area is a bit difficult to find at first, but holds three short, steep 5.11s.
The wall stays shaded all day, and is a good spot to head when seeking to avoid the crowds.
The ground below the wall is not very flat, making this a challenging area for pets and kids.
Getting There
Walk down the Middle Fork trail for about 5 minutes. You will cross the dry creek bed a couple of times. On your right will be a conglomerate boulder, behind which is a faint trail heading up a hill through some trees. There is a cairn here to help identify it.
If you happen upon a large conglomerate boulder on the right side of the trail that is 8-10 feet high, you have gone too far (the trail here will lead you to the Hot Zone crag).
Once on the correct trail, you will head uphill for about 5 more minutes, winding between trees and rock formations. The wall will be on your right, facing away (uphill)from the trail.
