Description
An old quartzite Crag originally climbed traditionally by Chuck Schaap, who grew up in Rawlins and has been the owner of Teton Mountaineering. A poor choice for traditional climbing but some suprisingly decent sport routes (up to 70') have been recently added. Most routes are cleaned but a helmet and standing out of the rockfall zone might prevent premature Darwinism.
Getting There
Downtown Rawlins (can see from I-80). Go west on W. Cedar St. until it dead ends at a dirt turnaround at the base of a steep hill. Park here and walk the dirt trail west straight up the steep hill (stay away from RR tracks unless you want a handsome ticket). After summitting the hill walk SW until at the top of cliff. When you see the chains look down; a small narrow 3rd class gully leads to the base of the sport routes. Bring gore-tex jacket with hood. Hurricane-force winds except June-September.
