Eric Robinson Memorial Wall

- This 75ft. tall wall has some great climbing. Gear and mixed routes exist. There are fixed anchors atop all routes. The rock is great to good. A bit of lichen on upper holds but mostly clean rock.
Eric Robinson was a friend, husband, father, and grandfather from down under. He came to Utah to traverse the Highline Trail in its entirety. This was to be a solo mission and he had allowed himself ten days to complete the route. Upon the specified day, his friends went to the trailhead on the Mirror Lake Highway to pick him up but were forced to leave without him as he did not show up. A search began. I personally hiked over a hundred miles, was dropped off in the high Uintas by heli, and yelled "Eric!" thousands of times in search. The search ramped up quickly and soon one hundred volunteers were searching the mountains for Eric. The search was fruitless and after two weeks was called off. Speculation about events leading to his disappearance continues. No evidence was found: his huge red backpack and all his gear was never found much less Eric himself. The beautiful Uinta mountains that I love so much had shown an ugly face. I still hear the echoes of my own voice yelling for Eric deep in the wilderness. The ERM Wall faces East overlooking ten miles of the Highline Trail. ERM Wall is a memorial to Eric and a reminder speaking to the seriousness of these beautiful mountains, the Uintas.
"Eric!......."

Getting There Suggest change

You can actually see this wall from the start of the approach. This crag is up and RIGHT of the Lowe Wall. Follow the approach as for Lowe Wall but at the meadow head up and right. A short stretch of low angle talus takes you to the right of the dense vegetation. Ascend the gentle slope, staying right of but near the bushes and trees, straight up to the ERM Wall.
