Description

Unlikely Wall was created when IN-37 was built leaving behind a limestone wall above the highway. There are both bolted routes and boulder problems to be found here. Although the rock can be very chossy in spots there are good climbs to be found. Please be aware that there are some bolts that have been cut, usually the first bolt of the climb. A stick clip easily reaches the second bolt.

Getting There

Option 1: From Bloomington take HWY 37 South to Harrodsburgh Exit. Park under the overpass. Locate the trail leading to the roadcut on the West side of the overpass.

Option 2: From Bloomington take HWY 37 South and about 1 mile before the Harrodsburgh Exit park on the pullout on the right or drive up the dirt track to the top of the hill.

Went during mid March 2017. Did a little research before heading there. Most of the top rope bolts have been cut as people have mentioned. 4WD is definitely a must if you go up the trail instead of parking at the overpass. The trail is very rutted.

Most of the first bolts on each route have been cut as well (bring a stick clip, the 2nd bolts are reachable). The limestone was slick, so cam placement will be tough; bring nuts if doing any trad. Can set up TR anchors if you bring webbing/static line. Some cool routes ~40ft up, mostly just 2-3 bolts max. Some anchors bolts are still set up. Apr 4, 2017

The name is fitting, but I thought this was a surprisingly cool little area for what it is-- definitely some fun problems. Poison ivy scared me off from some of the problems and I'm still picking ticks off me and my dog a few days later. Driving up the dirt track off of IN-37 seems way better than trying to bushwhack uphill to get here, maybe it's better in winter? Jun 10, 2015
