Description

Log Canyon is located just 8 miles to the north of Maple canyon and offers cobblestone climbing similar to Maple. Currently there is very little developed in Log Canyon, and most of the developed routes are very easy, but there is plenty of rock that still needs to be developed. Log Canyon doesn't have nearly as much rock as Maple Canyon, but it is much less crowded as well. Log Canyon is a great place to take kids or beginners, it's also a great place to go and nab some first ascents if you're into that sort of thing.

Getting There

From exit 225 in Nephi take highway 132 east towards Ephraim as if you were heading to maple canyon. Drive down highway 132 for about 10.5 miles until you'll see a sign on your right that says Log Canyon and Moroni GS. Turn right on this well-graded dirt road and follow it into Log Canyon. 1.6 miles after you turn off the highway there's a fork in the road. Left would take you under a steel ranch-gate. Instead, follow the fence going up the right fork. Another 1.4 miles to the Schoolhouse Rock just next to the road on your right (north). Another 100 yards up the canyon to start seeing campsites. Road is not as well-graded as Maple Canyon, but 4wd is not necessary. I would just think twice about taking a newer low-clearance car up there!
