The J Wall

Nevada > Southern Nevada > Red Rocks > First Pullout (Calico I)
Warning Access Issue: Red Rock RAIN AND WET ROCK: The sandstone is fragile and is very easily damaged when wet. DetailsDrop down

Description

This wall faces southwest and gets lots of sun from mid-morning on. The wall is generally somewhat sheltered from the wind as well, so plan for a colder day or an early start on a warmer one.

There are a few bouldery routes on nicely varnished rock. Though the cliff is not destination worthy, it can be a nice stop when combining with others in the area, such as The Hamlet and Panty Wall.

Getting There

Approach as for The Hamlet. This wall is the varnished face just below that crag.

[Hide Comment] With full respect to those that established these routes, is this really a "new area?" It feels as if this is more a worthy extension of an already established wall (The lower Hamlet). Just my $0.02 Jan 25, 2013

[Hide Comment] Great new area. Both 10s are in your face right away. The center route shed a hold that made it feel more low 11 now but still great. The 12 felt harder than 12a but to each there own. Go send. Dec 2, 2014

[Hide Comment] Added a high res beta photo (the current max resolution MP allows). Much like on the updated topo of the hamlet where I noted the J walls location , Ive included the J walls relation to the hamlet here. Oct 16, 2015
