Description
Knight's Ferry offers little in the way of world class bouldering in comparison to places like Yosemite or the East Side, but for those who live near Modesto, or those who are looking for some clean abeit cold river cliff jumping after a boulder session, look no further.
Most of the boulders worth attention are a few short feet off established trails. WATCH FOR RATTLE SNAKES! Poison oak is also prevalent but easily avoidable. Stay on established trails as terrain erosion has been an issue, mostly from weekend warrior cliff jumpers and picnicers. There are a few notable, high quality problems spread throughout the area with possible new projects waiting. Most of these are located on the north side of the river. Knight's Ferry is notorious for bad landings so crash pads are recommended. A detailed map and guide near completion.
Climbers enjoy a good repore with the rangers and the few hardcore locals want to keep it this way! Climbers here have taken it upon themselves to clean after non climbing visiters.
