Description
Named after the area testpiece, the Cranking Area is, as suggested, the place where one goes to crank. Many of Whiskey's hardest problems are found here.
Getting There
Located on the AT about 250 yards past the Entrance Area. Follow the climber trail through the boulders and under the large overhanging rock, or to approach it directly, follow the white blazed AT where it loops below the ridgeline, bypassing the first boulders. The area is identified by an enormous overhanging prow that holds The Cranking.
