Description
Gibraltar Rock is a large triangular formation situated to the NW as you drive into the equestrian area. It is made up of granite, some of it bomber, some of it I wouldn't wish upon my enemies; it is hit-or-miss.
Several bolted and trad routes, Gibraltar Rock is sunny most of the day and the wall on the south end has several good climbs and stays shaded until about 2pm.
There is no camping in the canyon, but there are toilet facilities and picnic tables.
Bring your bouldering pad, you could spend all day exploring the boulders in the canyon.
Getting There
About 4 miles south of Electric City, past Roadside Rock. Take a left (east) at the sign for Northrup Canyon. Follow the dirt road to the area labeled "Equestrian Parking". If the Gate for the Equestrian area is closed, park another 100 yards down the road at the trailhead parking. Bring your Discover Pass.
