Approach to Science Friction (Handline/Pub Draft Guiness rap)

Start at the junction of the Crest Spur trail/La Luz/Echo Canyon. At that junction, facing west towards the side, you'll see a large dead tree next to the sign. Hike straight beyond the tree/sign, immediately picking up a trail. Follow the trail and cairns westward, sticking to the left (south east) of the ridge line. Follow cairns until you find the trail that goes between two yellow forest service signs on two large trees. This will take you to the "summit".

Continue westbound along the ridge. This ridge is the top of Science Friction. Here you can scramble to the top of 1993 Face Odyssey fixed anchors, Pub Draught Guiness tat anchors, or walk the entire ridge til it terminates at a small gully on a ledge. The wall on the other side of the gully with a tree on top is Windward Wall. From this ledge you can find the handline down climb to the ramp that makes up the base/belay area for the Science Friction routes.
