Mike McGlynn

Red Rocks climber Mike McGlynn took a very serious groundfall in the Black Corridor on Sunday and is currently hospitalized. Please keep him and his friends and family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and Prayers with family and friends.

Mike was in the WFR course I took in Nov. of '06. He professed to be taking the course because he was going to start rock guiding for a local service. I hope he was not working and also hope he recovers! My thoughts and prayers to he and his family!

I want to share that Mike is a remarkable person whom I've loved spending time with. He has a love for life bigger then words can describe. He has a very kind heart and always extended himself to others openly and generously. I am so sad this has happened and am holding him, his family and friends close in my heart. May strength, grace and love be with him!

I don't know Mike, but have appreciated his solid and respectful thoughts & comments on this site. I find myself checking the thread, wanting to hear what happened and how he's doing. Any body have any more info?

I hope he knows that even people he hasn't met are concerned and wishing him well!

Mike is one of the nicest guys you could ever know. I am hoping and praying for the most positive outcome. Please, let's all do the same.

I met Mike and Todd last Fall at Jack's Canyon. We had fun there! Mike was an easy, nice guy to hang out with. I am really sad to hear of his accident. My heart is with him and his family and friends.

Our good friend, Mike J. McGlynn died this morning at 6:20. Mike loved climbing and was passionate about everything he did - we should all be so lucky to live our lives the way Mike lived his. Mike's family wants the climbing community to know how overwhelmed they have been by your support, love, and assistance. Thank you to all of you.

That is really sad news...thanks for relaying the info, Todd. My thoughts go out to friends and family members of Mike...I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear this. I didn't know him at all, but felt a pang when I read of his passing. Condolences to his friends and family.

Mike was a very friendly guy, who was an experienced climber. Hopefully his accident will result is all of us taking a pause and reflecting on our own safe practices when climbing. While climbing has inherent elements of danger, I refuse to believe that under normal/reasonable circumstances death has to be one of those risks. This is especially sobering when it happens in your own backyard.

Mike's presence will surely be missed out at the crag, and I pray for peace in his family and the partner he was climbing with.

I think it is a loss to all climbers when we lose one of our own. I never met Mike, and it is really upsetting to hear of his passing away.

Not to sound insensitive (and I apologize and will edit this if it offends anyone), but what were the circumstances surrounding his fall? I had heard anecdotally about the fall, but I don't want to repeat them as I am uncertain of their accuracy. Perhaps we can learn in a positive way from what happened to Mike.

I, too, would like to learn about the circumstances of this sad and tragic accident. My deepest sympathies go out to Mike's family and friends.

This thread should remain a memorial to Mike, with comments from people who knew him, or from those of us who didn't know Mike but nevertheless are saddened by his loss. A new thread should be started to discuss the details of the accident, when it's appropriate.
