A few of my friends and I were discussing what we felt were the top climbs in our state and I started wondering what everyone else's take on it would be. So I figured I would post a thread so we could see what the consensus is for around our state. So what is everyone's top 3 climbs in our state.

Lots of great stuff out there.

The Mace - Sedona

Candyland - Granite MTN

What's My Line? - Cochise Stronghold

I have climbed these routes. This three could change as time goes by. I sure hope it does. Maybe next week :)

This will also get you started with a bunch of input on the matter.

Thanks for the link Aerili. Looked like the last post was done in '07. So I'm sure some opinions might have changed. Plus MP has a larger audience than rockclimbing.com.

I agree on the scenery, but length and route finding ability is key as well

1. Classic - Granite Mountain
2. Mace - Sedona
3. Whats My Line - Cochise

But I also really like climbs in the West Clear Creek and have always
wanted to do Babo ... wink wink Tradster

Kingpin, GM (Coatamundi -> Candyland is a very close runner up)
Dr. Rubos Wild Ride, Sedona
Prow, Paradise Forks (I know its only 1 pitch, but its so good)

Nice topic!

1. The Great Dihedral, Sedona
2. Jabberwocky, Cochise Stronghold - I wasn't even able to finish this one which makes it even better in my mind. Pitches 1 and 2 are truly outstanding while pitch 3 requires brass nuts (not the protection, the other kind).
3. Into the Wild, Sedona

To me the best climbs require a full skill-set. All three of these climbs mix sport climbing athletisism with old-school techniques (friction, crack, etc.).

I've only lived in AZ for semester, but so far my favorites have been.

The Mace, Sedona
Dr. Rubos Wild Ride, Sedona
The Prow, Paradise Forks

I'm really looking forward to getting out to Granite Mountain and Cochise!

Mine is similar to Tradster's:

Table for Two (this is a real sleeper classic)
SE Arete of Babo (taking the whole experience into account)
Abracadaver (I think this is one of the best climbs I've ever done anywhere!)

Honorable mention to the Chiboni-Quick Death linkup on Rap Rock, and I could see it becoming top 3 by adding Voodoo Child, which some folks gave us a good show on the day we were there.

The exciting thing for me is that I have yet to even climb at Granite Mountain, Sedona, Isolation, Queen Creek, and numerous other areas!

1. Something at Granite Mtn. 2. SE Arete Babo. 3. Days of Future Past Definite runnerup for chiboni/quickdeath/voodoochild and WarmandFree/SweptAway RickD ... I never would have thought of Comingtogrips as the BEST in Cochise, but maybe, hmmm..... BTW do you have info on the Variations to the Sound of one hand thrashing. i still can't decide which name I like better....

Earth Angel-Sedona

1. Wasteland
2. Endgame
3. Spice Box linked to Hard Times finish - Yeah, this may get me pistil whipped but where else in AZ can you climb super scary old run-out on old 1/4 inch spinners chossy (not too bad) rock with a full 360 degree view of Phoenix and multi-million dollar homes. It's just a very different experience from the typical AZ climbing experience.

I didn't want to be the first to say Hard Day as most people are listing gear and summit routes.

Hard Day at the Orifice - Lemmon
Rough Rider - Homestead
John's Meat Market (aka: Fred's Line) - Homestead

yeah i noticed that too. i don't see any reason a single pitch sport climb can't be as fulfilling as a long, committing trad route. i trained for months just to climb Hard Day. when i finally sent the route i couldn't believe it.

Any three climbs at the VRG.

For now, I think Days of Future Passed is on the list. Ask me again in 30 years for the other two. :)

As an out-of-towner, I can only choose from climbs I have done, but here goes....

1. The Bandito Route on the Pole
2. North Face Leviathan
3. Days of Future Past on Rockfellow
Honorable Mention: Elephantiasis on Elephant Dome, Mendoza Canyon

I also must say that Az. has some of the nicest and most diverse climbing in the Southwest!
