Where to climb after Tennessee Wall?

A friend and I will be in Tennessee over Thanksgiving weekend. We're planning to start at Tennessee Wall, but then it closes for hunting. We're thinking about heading to Foster Falls after T-wall, but is there a better option? Where else should we look at? Sport or trad will work.

Thanks in advance!

Foster's is a great sport destination. Obed is too, though it's a further drive. There's also Suck Creek (trad), right around the corner from T-Wall, though I don't have any first-hand knowledge of the climbing there.

If the weather's not too cold, you should try Sunset Park in Chattanooga. Second only to T-Wall in terms of area trad climbing, in my opinion. But it's a west-facing crag, so if the weather is chilly, it'll be miserable.

What kind of Climbing are you going for Trad, sport, bouldering?
With this we might can do a better choice.

Brad,

Either Sport or Trad. I'm leaning more towards trad but probably at least one day of sport climbing just to check out another area. Sunset and Obed definitely look like nice destinations.

For trad in the Chattanooga area I'd highly recommend Jamestown, Alabama. It is less than an hour from T-Wall. Lost Wall, GA is also an option if you are in the area.

Foster Falls for sport. Suck Creek for trad.

While I'll agree that Sunset will be quite cold, I have to strongly disagree about the Obed being too cold. Tierrany is one of the two best (legit) winter destinations in the South (with Twall being the other one). 30's and sunny means tshirts. Lots of good routes there as well.

Enjoy your trip.

My advice: Avoid Sunset. It will be cold unless we have record setting warm weather and no wind. The place gets almost no sun and at night the temps this time of year are in the 20s. Sunset is awesome but not in December unless you bring your ice tools, there are a few mixed routes. I agree with Jamestown- you'll find tons of great trad and a few good sport routes. Stays pretty warm and is somewhat protected from wind. Fosters is a cool sport crag- lots of routes but unfortunately lots of other climbers, the place can be pretty crowded. Castle Rock is cool, best known for hard face climbing. Leda is right outside of town, Leda is a smaller crag but sunny and warm with a good variety of sport and trad in a variety of grades. If you want to drive a little from Chatt for some sport then The Obed is awesome. The Obed is a stellar cold weather destination, I've been toasty warm climbing there while there was snow on the ground. Suck Creek is OK but in my opinion it's not worth the trip if you've only got a few days in town. There are a few separate areas of Suck Creek(roadside, upper passes etc)and each area has a few good routes but they tend to be dirty due to a lack of traffic, also, Suck takes a good while to dry out after a rain because it tends to seep. Enjoy your visit, hope you hit good weather, if you do I may run into you at T-Wall
