You can offend some of the people all the time,
or all the people some of the time.

Or someting like dat. I just said that, words...
actions...fingers...typing...electrons in motion.

Hey guys, that's pretty funny. But you'll need more power endurance, route finding skills, and poise way above gear to be able to red point this thread! Ya'll are just bouldering some entry moves.

By the way, NSFOD and William, anyone checking the thread on Tensleep Canyon has to hope that menacing Mike is all "talk" and no "action." Two points?

I have to agree with the Clint Eastwood comment. This is a loner who has telegraphed his game all over MySpace. Something that I've learned in life is that true badasses don't talk - especially for hours on tape and then play it online for anyone who will watch. This dude is just lonely and looking for attention. In his video, he talks about how no one will climb with him. The situation is pretty obvious. I'd bet you dimes to dollars that the guy is starved for company and would welcome visitors to his local haunt.

And if he can't behave, just remember that he's one guy alone in the hills with a few dogs. If he gets into your business while you are trying to enjoy a day out climbing, kick the living snot out of him and be done with it. If he gets his ass kicked a few times, he'll chill out. From what I see on his site, I seriously doubt that it will come to that unless you go there looking for trouble.

I'm with Ken here. People that talk alot usually do nothing because they are getting to vent and blow off steam. Those who say nothing let things fester until the pus explodes in a very ugly mess. The dude is probably lonely, but like Ken, if he punched me I'd swing my trad rack up side his head.

Lots of crazy folks communicate prolifically while or before committing mayhem. Before the internet, they sent letters to newspapers (cf. Ted Kaczynski) or celebrities (cf. John Hinckley). Now I guess they post to MySpace or YouTube.
If he were that dangerous, the authorities would be watching him. Like I said. I have been around all types of people in my life - some very dangerous - and the worst of them said very little. I have also been around more than my share of talkers, and they all have similar patterns of behavior to this guy. Just treat this guy with some common courtesy and friendliness, and I'll bet that he'll be a very accommodating host. He made it pretty clear in his video that he would like people to go do his routes.

Not meaning to open any more cans but I think I have to politely disagree with both Ken & William on this

While I agree it's true some "bad-asses" don't talk, history has proven that there are some that do

Without going into fact-by-fact details, I remember that some of the school shootings recently have involved students that did talk to others about what their plans were. As a result, students can be pulled aside for verbal threats. Teachers and students are now asked to become aware of others students talking 'bad-assed' while hopeing to prevent lives from being lost in future shootings

Does a chronological age determine whether a person would be more likely to talk or not..? Is it through learned observations where one decided NOT to speak about their actions and therefore perhaps can avoid in getting caught later (witnesses in court etc..). Just food-4-thought

Kirra:

You bring up a good point. Guess I shouldn't stereotype all these malcontents. Point well taken.

This is true, Bob, but those husbands don't open MySpace pages and make public threats of violence against their spouses. The first time that happens, I'll bet my left foot that it with make national headlines. We're talking about MySpace.

And on that note, for anyone who seriously feels threatened by this guy, Mike, just call the authorities and tell them to visit his MySpace page. If they are aware of it, do nothing, and then this guy blows a cork, that will also make serious headlines. MySpace is closely monitored for nutbags, pedophiles, etc.

And, Kirra, I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Mike said in his video that he needs a good woman, so I think you're safe if you show up there with a harness on. What the hell. He looks like Tarzan, has a posse of big, fluffy dogs, and has his on private climbing area. Probably a great catch. Wink

Well, He has probably been reading these posts, because I just went to his MySpace page, and it is now set to private. It was open, yesterday.

Like I said, if you really feel threatened by him, tell law enforement to check on his page. I would also email Tom, at MySpace, and let him know about it.

Daniel,

I have not read the entire post as it's twelve pages, so please pardon if someone has asked this question previously.

What route were you on, where were you, and what pitch? The general feeling I get from your post is that you were on something in the mountains, very technical, and serious.

I'm glad you were able to walk away with only a battered helmet and not a fractured skull.

Thanks Ken I was planning to show up with a 6-pack & a Can-o'bearspray that way I have both bases covered...

as far as 'harnesses' go well my mind just went into the gutter on that one. Could be if I put a harness on him that may be the best thing - perhaps a little discipline could do him good *wink-wink*

edit* I just drifted back to the other thread and realized I should also pack along some duck-tape to address the vocabulary deficit

I don't think you are disappointed at all, John. In fact, I think you are making it all up.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
