I wrote this years before a guidebook was published/released. get the new guidebook. Aug 13, 2017
According to the guidebook Spread Eagle starts about 6 feet? around the corner. There are some good holds there past the roof and definitely not V5, so yours has to be different. Also the book says that Spread Eagle finishes further left of the arete in the crack just to the right of Twinkletoes whereas the way its written Humping the Bear starts on the sloped left foot, hands on opposite sides of the arete and makes a big move straight up the arete. Its a bit confusing because in the picture attached to this route it appears that the climber is climbing the arete which would be Humping the Bear. Maybe someone else can weigh in who has more history in the area. Aug 9, 2017

I'm confused about this problem and Humping the Bear. Where does Spread Eagle start? I found a low start to the right of Humping the Bear that felt much harder than V2, probably at least V5 getting off the ground. If someone can clarify the Spread Eagle line, I may add my sit start as a new problem. Sep 12, 2016
