Description Suggest change

Mt Aix is the highest summit east of Mt Rainier and the Cascade Crest above Bumping Lake. Its elevation is 7771' and it is one of the 41 mountains in Washington with at least 1000 meters of prominence ranking 40th at 3296' or 1005 meters. Its wide open summit ridge has unique and spectacular views. Finding decent rock to climb is a challenge as it is generally falling apart.

Getting There Suggest change

Take Mt Aix Trail #982 for 3.7 miles to the ridge crest and junction with Nelson Ridge Trail. Continue on 982 Southeast along the ridge. When under the summit one can scramble straight up (class 2/3) or continue on the trail which loops around the back. Scrambling up and taking the trail down works best for most. Mt Aix Summit Boulder East is just down from the summit on an outcrop immediately under the trail. Approach is about 6 miles and roughly 4200' of gain.
