Description Suggest change

In 2019- current day, the Carolina Climbers Coalition worked with Rocky Fork State Park to open climbing at the White House Cliffs. If you believe in public climbing access, consider joining the CCC at carolinaclimbers.org/join. Big thanks to Rocky Fork State Park managers for their support as well!

YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ONLINE PERMIT BEFORE CLIMBING AT ROCKY FORK STATE PARK: Register here, and please see rules and regulations from the State Park:  tnstateparks.com/parks/acti…

CCC members and leaders have created a great guidebook to Rocky Fork State Park on their website here: docs.google.com/document/d/…

Shady moderate cracks! The shady and creek side environment are pretty special at Black Stacks. Your first entry may make you think that climbs are dirty or unclimbable due to some low greenery but the rock quality and varied features with excellent movement make up for the less inviting base. Black Stacks shines in the 5.9 range but has a little something for all ability levels. Most routes require trad gear. A 70m rope is nice but not mandatory. This is a great summer crag and receives very little sun.

Can stay damp on the lower sections longer than you would think after rain.

Getting there Suggest change

From the Rocky Fork State Park Parking area.  Walk up the car sized gravel trail.  Continue for approximately .4 miles until you see a large tree spanning the creek.  This is the climbers access tree, either trust your balance and cross standing or butt scoot across.  Once across the tree follow the path to the rock face.
