****Note....grades for problems are currently inaccurate. This page is a work in progress. For the time being....just go out and you'll find plenty of rock to suit your ability.****

Just outside of Black Lick, located on SGL 273, on the South shore of the Black Lick creek. G2 contains a high concentration of great bouldering for all abilities. About 50 problems on about 15 boulders.  This area is particularly friendly to newer to intermediate climbers, with a large number of climbs in the V0-V5 range, with safer top outs at comfortable heights. There are also some harder and significantly highball lines for more experienced climbers.

Getting There Suggest change

Outside of Black Lick, park at the State Gamelands lot (room for 4-5 cars, maybe more if you double park) at the intersection of Schoolhouse, Fisher Lane/Trolley St, and Ruggieri Rd. (Approximate location of parking: 40.472649, -79.175749)  If this lot is full, it's possible to find parking further up Ruggieri Rd (the dirt road heading around the corner and up the hill), both below and above the gated access road. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE GATE OR THE ROAD.

From the parking lot, take a short walk up the dirt road (Ruggieri Rd), and take the first left on a gated road. Walk past the gate along this mostly level, sometimes muddy road about 15 minutes. Ignore the first hard left (which eventually heads downhill), and at the next Y at a small man-made stone wall, bear to the right (do NOT head left to the Gas Well #1). Continue another 15 minutes or so, crossing a couple clear-cuts along a steep hill (ignore any turns to the right). Access the main boulderfield by continuing along the road until it ends at Gas Well #2. Continue past/around the gas well toward the woods to find a footpath which will drop you almost immediately into the boulderfield. Continue across the hill or drop down almost immediately to find the Western Classic boulder, with many great mid-height warm-up problems.  Approach from parking is just over 1 mile. You may find it helpful to keep the pin up on your phone--the road you follow from the gate basically has you walking consistently toward that pin.

To access the Western Classic Boulder, shortly after walking through the second clearcut, but before hitting gaswell #2, veer left downhill on a left turn until you reach a small clearing. Western Classic is o the uphill side of this clearing. Hole in One is to the right of the road you took to the clearing.
