Description Suggest change

Down Range Rocks is located South of the police shooting range, high on the top of the hill. It may be down range of the firing line but it is safely out of the line of fire and is quite a ways distant as to not be a danger. The range doesn’t appear to be used very often with months between uses or maintenance. Down Range Rocks has a few rock walls, pinnacles, and numerous large boulders. It is shaded and North Facing.

Getting There Suggest change

Follow the fire road from Pryor Rd approximately 0.8 miles. About 100 feet before the shooting range driveway look for a clear road like area to the left. A range shooting table is visible on the low hill just ahead. See the trail detail photo.  Head left toward the large tree stump pile following the rather nondescript path.  An old road cut continues on the other side. Work your way left around the stumps or scramble over. The old road cut runs parallel to the the left side of the range before continuing up the hill.  Follow the steep and sometimes washed out road cut for 0.3 miles following the obvious path to the crest of the hill. The wall is clearly visible a few hundred feet to the left once you reach the top. Expect a 30-35 minute hike to the rock from Pryor Rd.
