Description

Opus

is a two pitch climb parallel to Clyde.

P1 starts 20 feet left of Yellow Dog Dingo, just left of a large corner. The first 20 feet are vertical 5.6 with good hands and feet. Above, the route follows a shoulder to the left end of the Other Critters ledge.

P2 continues the ledge, scramble up to the large, right-facing corner to the left of Minnesota Gopher. Several interesting 5.7 balance moves will get you established up on the face with your left hand on the outside corner. Continue up the face with the only the hand on the corner until the feet run out. Pull easily left, and continue 15 fee to the chain anchor for Clyde.

Location

Approach Other Critters from the Dog House trail.  Avoid the 4th class moves up onto the big ledge, and loop down on the trail towards Safari.  Opus is the middle of the three climbs starting on the lower tier.

Protection

P1 - 9 bolts and a 2 bolt anchor.
P2 - 8 bolts and a shared 2 bolt anchor with Clyde.

[Hide Comment] P2 is possibly easier for tall people. It is a shuffle move for the feet. Definitely harder than 5.7. Past the crux one can climb theface on the L, much easier, or stay on the R face for full challenge.
P1 is much easier. Feb 1, 2020
[Hide Comment] Make sure to check your clip line. P2 clip line is along the arete, slightly to the left of P1 anchor. If you go straight up from the anchor (to the overhang above), then you'll end up on Minnesota Gopher. Apr 24, 2023
