Carp

FA: Greg Parker
S Dakota > Spearfish Canyon > Blue Sky > Fishbowl

Description

Great beginning warm-up for the harder routes up at Blue Sky or a challenging route for the 5.10 climber. This route is technical at the bottom on small pockets and edges that lead into a funky dihedral. After negotiating the dihedral, the climbing is on big holds up to the crux on not-so-big holds. Lots of fun.

Protection

7 bolts, open cold shut anchors

[Hide Comment] I agree - worth doing regardless of what you climb.

If you're a 10 climber, then this is a good challenge. Managing the pump will be difficult, but there aren't really any crazy stopper moves and it's super well bolted.

If you climb harder, then it's just a fun sequence of moves, with variations in styles keeping it interesting to the end (thinner stuff, big pocket, cracks/dihedral). Jul 30, 2017
