Atomic Boulder

Massachusetts > Eastern, MA > Milford Bouldering

Description

This is a good boulder with some fun problems on it. It is a good after work spot as it is closest to the road.

Getting There

This is directly behind the Milford Water Company. If coming down the bike path from Wendy's, take the first dirt road on the right. The boulder is on the right.

[Hide Comment] It seems like this boulder has been physically removed from the site. There is a large hole in the ground but no rock! Aug 24, 2019

[Hide Comment] Yikes! Not good.... Aug 24, 2019
[Hide Comment] That’s amazing. Ben, are you sure you were in the right spot? This boulder was huge. Are the building something back there? Aug 25, 2019

[Hide Comment] If there is a person who wants to rep the Milford area for SNECC, let me know. I’d love to get this confirmed if it’s true. A lot of boulders in the Milford Zone need some love. Aug 25, 2019

[Hide Comment] This would be crazy if true. It is on the highway side of the bikepath, so it seems highly unlikely that something is being built there. Wish I could head over there to check it out, but I won't be able until next week at the earliest.... Aug 26, 2019
[Hide Comment] Worth noting that there is poison ivy on the top of this boulder. Not in leaf now, but I’m fairly certain that’s what it was. Mar 13, 2020
[Hide Comment] Decent boulder. Is there a reason no one has developed a traverse on that rail on the graffiti side? Mar 21, 2020
[Hide Comment] Pretty sure this boulder was in fact removed. I went to the location and searched around but only found a large crater in the ground where the boulder was supposed to be. -June 7th, 2024 Jun 6, 2024

[Hide Comment] I am not trying to be harsh, but I find this very hard to believe as the boulder is in Town Forest land owned by the town. I wish I could get out there, but I can't for a while. Maybe there is a local who can check it out???

Since this has happened twice, I'm guessing the GPS coordinates are wrong.... Jun 7, 2024

[Hide Comment] I just went to this boulder, it is completely intact, and I had a great session. There are several great climbs on this boulder. Also to Dan's point, it is still covered in poison ivy on the east-facing topout. Sep 24, 2024
[Hide Comment] I can confirm this boulder still exists, lol. The mistake I made (and I'm wondering if this is the mistake other folks are making) is when I was coming from Wendy's, I ducked right into the woods at the bend in the bike path. This is not correct. You need to walk further down just past the water company, and then turn right onto a wide trail. Take this, and you'll see this boulder unfortunately covered in graffiti :/ Oct 11, 2024
