Description

Unique route here, a must visit. Excellent photo opportunities from all the jumbled boulders around the base of Equinox (5.12c). Best time to visit is afternoons (west face gets sun) in the winter. It can be windy here, but it's nice and quiet otherwise.

Getting There

Take Geology Tour Rd south for about 3.7 miles to pullout #5 (on west side of road, just before the yellow 4x4 sign). The rock formation you see directly to the west about 3/4 of a mile ahead is Jerry's Quarry.

From the left side of the parking lot, follow the worn trail passing the very occasional cairn to the Slashface boulder. From here, take a slight right past a cairn and head for the biggest tree before cutting directly across the wash. Make your way up a small rise and through the flat, then wrap CCW around the formation.

Once you reach the formation's west side, the highest boulder facing west is split by a stunning finger crack. This is Equinox (5.12c). When you first see it, take a left fork and scramble up boulders, then cut right across a slabby boulder to the excellent belay area at the base of the route.
