Climbing in the cave. Photo from the Redpoint Club...

The Xiaomoyu Cave was discovered in early 2005 by Wang Zhiming (aka Wang Er) and company, who began development soon after. Today it is one of the most famous of the Yunnan climbing crags. See the Climb China guidebook and The Crag website for access information, description and topo photos of the climbs. Climbs included here are from those sources. This site is split into two areas, the vertical Entrance Buttress to the right of the Xiaomoyu Cave proper. The inner cave is prime to climb in all weather conditions.

Getting There

This cave lies a short distance (less than 0.3 km) directly south of Xiaomoyu village. See 2015 Climb China guidebook and Kunming Rock and The Crag websites for directions. The Inner Cave is prime to climb in all weather conditions.

If you are in Kunming for a short spell and can climb some 5.12, this is the place to go. Fumin Canyon has some good routes too but the quality here is MUCH higher.

starting from the left i think the routes go like this....
11D, 10D, 12C, 12D, then a project.
There might be a short route or two deep inside on the left but not worth it.

Starting deep in the cave on the right side....
A couple short things not worthy, then: Project, 11B (short and heavy chalk), 13A, 13C, Project, Project, 12A, Project

There are also a few routes outside to the right of the cave, nothing over 11A.
