Description

Wild Basin is an area in southern RMNP that consists of moderate elevation forested bouldering along the North St. Vrain River.

It's secluded from the more trafficked portions of the park and is therefore fairly quiet.

Getting There

From Estes: drive south on CO Highway 7 toward Allenspark. About 5 minutes past the Chapel on the Rock, you'll see signs on the right for the Wild Basin trailhead. Continue on this road, and you'll pass a tollbooth that is usually only open until summer. Here, the road turns from paved to dirt. Take the dirt road to the end where you'll reach the Wild Basin ranger station. Park and follow the trail into the woods.

Hamburglar V8 7B  Colorado : Alpine Rock : ... : Main Area
Hamburglar climbs a yellow fin that angles left. Start on two opposing sidepulls, move up to the seam, and then make a big move to the first lip. The original problem traversed left through the crimps on the upper seam and to the peak of the boulder. If you top out directly after matching on the seam on the face, it feels more like V7....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
