  • Description

This is a great little face climb that packs a lot of punch in its short length—crimpy and technical, sort of a mini-Snake Watching but with better stone. It's in the middle of the west face of Hillbilly Rock.

Stick-clip a high first bolt to start. From the ledge, bust through a tough, laybacky boulder problem to slopers under the bulging lip, then stand tall onto the nice, brown face. Two more bolts of sustained micro-crimping on a slightly overhanging wall take you to anchors under the roof. Look around: there are good holds here and there just when you need them.

    Location

It is on the West face of Hillbilly Rock.

    Protection

    Three bolts, stick clip.

Felt hard for 12c, or like "hard 12c." Many thanks, Adam and all, for updating the hardware!

Just glad you got on it, Matt. It took several visits to get those ring bolts out, and I'm just happy to see it wasn't for nothin'.

I'm psyched it's getting done again! I actually haven't even climbed it yet. The old hardware was so sketch that it was all I could bear to stick clip up it to replace the old bolts, and then I was tired of walking up there. It's a good winter hang though, so I'm looking forward to going back. Big thanks to Jason for the help and return trip.
