Fallen Arch Boulder, Black Mountain

If you don't want to cause access issues please make it a point to be on your best behavior. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Some of the tallest and most intimidating boulders of Black Mountain are found here. While the most visible problems on these boulders found behind campsite #20 and #21 are off-the-deck (to say the least), there are shorter problems if one walks a short (about 1 minute) distance away from the campground loop road towards the back of these campsites.

As always, please be courteous and ask permission before attempting problems that are in the middle of someone else's campsite.

Getting There

Head to Boulder Basin Campground and look for campsite #20 and #21.

This sweet problem climbs a striking orange face on the backside of the boulder. The first part is not too hard but trickier than it looks at first glance. Find a pretty good hold at the apex of the orange shield, paste your feet as high as you dare, and mantle. The hold you are aiming for is a small crystal and it might be worth eyeballing it from above first. Like the rest of the "Pumping Granite" classics, this one will stay with you a while.I imagine this was FA'd from a standing start but t...[more]   Browse More Classics in California
