Description

Waldo is a good-sized boulder that boasts potential for numerous problems. The rock quality is very good, and the landings are mainly good but poor in some areas.

Getting There

It is located in the Southie Area. From the parking area, head downhill, cross East Creek, head up toward the Mecca Boulder on the dirt track, continue past the boulder about 50 yards, and then head uphill toward the cliff. Below the cliff, there is a foot path, head in a southwesterly direction and the boulder will be on the right. It lies behind two of the biggest blocks in the entire Mecca area. It is best to just look at the page map, it's tough to explain, this one is pretty far out there.

Crossing the Pretend V4 6B  Colorado : Grand Junction Area : ... : Waldo Rock
Crossing the Pretend is an overhung, lowball problem that ascends perfect stone on hand-friendly features over a fantastic landing. Sit start with hands matched at the vertical rail. From there, move out left to a sloper at the lip, walk the feet, move with the right hand to an excellent, diagonal edge, then match with the left hand and make a big move to the obtuse lip. At that point, work the feet into position, mantle with the left hand, and top it out....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
