A little-known collection of sandstone boulders exists on the South face of a roughly 80-foot hill featuring a radio tower. Most boulders range from 9-12 feet in height with varying degrees of difficulty. Climbers of many varying skill levels could find challenges here. Wake-up Call is unique in that there are few free-standing boulders: rather, the routes listed on this page are found on boulder-esque faces branching off the main radio tower hill itself.

Getting There

From the town of Green River, travel East on Main Street, continuing out of town and over the I-70 overpass. Take the only right uphill, followed by the first left onto a gravel road. The gravel road winds for several miles, passing a natural gas rig on the left. Shortly thereafter is a fork in the road- stay right. You'll pass an old missile bunker on the left. At this point you can see a radio tower elevated on a hill of about 80 feet. Continue about half a mile towards the tower. The ascent is recommended only via 4WD, mountain bike, or hike. The gravel road ascends about 12 feet before making a sharp switchback to the right. At this switchback, go West onto the South side of the hill.

Stand-start for an easy ascent. For a challenge, sit-start. There's a decent pinch for your right hand. A solid four-finger hold exists above eye-level on the left. Place feet to the left and use your left arm to lift yourself. Immediately shoot about 6 inches farther left. From there, walk your hands up a right-leaning crack to a nice lip for the top-out....[more]   Browse More Classics in Utah
