Looking at the village of Vho from the old highway...

Bunches of routes off a defunct road. Good rock. Partly quarried road cut, partly natural. "A mixture between the work of nature and that of man."

Easy approach, with wide (two lane!) staging areas.

Climbing both above, and, by rappel/lowering, below the old road bed.

Around 110 routes, ranging from 3c to 8a, in 9 sectors, this location has something for everyone. Majority of the routes in the mid 6 range.

Primarily west facing. Nice views to the village of Vho across the drainage.

A great location, and, probably the most stacked for routes in the area. Some two pitch, longer routes.

Getting There

10 km north of Chiavenna on the SS36 (towards the Swiss border), pass through Cimaganda and at the tunnel before Campodolcino, park on the left.

Climbing Season

For the Italy area.

Nice steep route on good rock.Angular holds, with reasonable feet and good incut edges.Reachy in places to surprisingly good holds. My notes say, "crazy steep great route."...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
