Vegas/Red Rock babysitter and Xmas conditions

Hey, my new family and I are looking to get out for some climbing after a hiatus while having two kids!

We are thinking about coming for a week at some point b/w Dec 19th and the 3rd.

In need of a babysitter to travel with us from Vegas to Red Rock, hike in to climbing area (thinking 2nd pullout, Calico), and watch our kids while my wife and I climb a bit!

Kids are 8mo and 24mo, totally awesome and well behaved. Excursions would be b/w 8am-2pm at the longest. More like 9-1.

Please recommend any friends, family or even a babysitting service (there are lots! but we would lean towards a rec from here).

Also advise the few best spots for this type of climbing. IE, want to maximize climbing volume due to the short time window. TR-ing is fine, sport up to 9, trad 8. Single or quick two-pitch. SHORT hike in. Must have safe spot for kids to be nearby, although they don't have to be right next to the belay, just visible.

Thanks!

I'll just stick to the discussion of crags.

This is a long, long list of requirements. The only area that seems reasonable is a day of bouldering at Kraft.

There aren't so many obvious choices to get volume at the 5.8/5.9 grade. Most of them either lack a safe place for the kiddos at the base, or have exposed sections on the hike in/out, or both. I'm not sure how you feel about fourth class scramble with a 8 month old on your back (to reach meetup wall, for example), but the prospect gives me pause.

Moderate Mecca has lots of easy trad single pitch in the sun, 15 minutes from the red spring parking lot without having to drive the scenic loop. Easy to TR too. Belay ledge is huge but has exposure, not sure will be safe for your kids but there's plenty spot to hangout for kids near Red Spring parking, booths with chairs, trails, short boardwalk. Panty wall has lots of easy sport single pitches in the sun, 20 minutes approach from first pullout with some easy class 3 scramble involved. Again not sure if your kids can handle the approach. Bouldering at Kraft is also good idea , in the sun, lots of super short and safe class 1 approach .

Since you're hiring a babysitter anyway, you may want to consider leaving the kids and the babysitter in town while you climb for the day. This will make it a lot easier to find both a crag and a babysitter that can meet your needs.

Thanks for the info, guys! Yes, quite a tall order for us to make this kind of trip happen. We are opting out of a Vegas trip, but may head to JTree instead, as some family is staying in Palm Springs - makes the a babysitting part far easier.
